Yesica Torres had a very challenging situation occur when one of her post-op patients tragically lost a family member and had other family members hospitalized the night of his surgery. Coming on to her shift, she prayed with her patient as he received the horrific news and held his hand. She was able to provide support to him during this difficult time and even got him to laugh. Yesica was his light in the midst of all the darkness. She coordinated communication with his family that lived out of state, with the hospital staff from where his other loved ones were being taken care of, and various visitors, in a professional but caring manner. She even called a priest from their church to come in.
I know this meant the world to him. There were so many other acts of kindness that she carried out as the day went on, all to provide him comfort and make him feel as if he weren't alone. Thank you for providing compassionate care and treating our patients as if they were our family.
