Yolanda lives out the mission of Bon Secours every day. She is a motivating force who is well respected by clinical nurses and nursing leaders alike. She drives for and expects excellence every day. She asks important and difficult open-ended questions, always encouraging people to think outside of the box and be a part of the solution. She steps into difficult situations and provides stability, growth, and innovation. She embodies the values and culture of our ministry and always puts the patient and patient safety first. During a time of tremendous leadership change, she has been a constant for our staff. There is a quote from Dr. Ivan Misner that says, “A great leader does not tell you what to do, they show you how it’s done.” This quote exemplifies Yolanda as a nursing leader. She serves St. Mary’s Hospital with both grit and grace.
