I was admitted with life-threatening gunshot wounds that damaged most of my vital organs. Yolanda assured that my care and comfort were a priority. She always explained what she was doing for me and why. I coded a couple of times and her immediate response coaching me "Come on Robert, come on Robert…" replayed in my head. When I wanted to give up, she reminded me that I was given a second chance, a miracle. My family tells me that she was very informative with them. Once I left her work unit, she stopped by briefly to say that SICU still cared and expected a full recovery. The compassion and care that she showed me has been helpful in my long journey toward healing. She is a true DAISY.
