Y0oni has been a nurse for over twenty-five years and over those years has embodied the Franciscan value of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence. Yooni has been a mentor to many nurses who worked on First Surgical. She brings a sense of joy and compassion to our unit that is appreciated by staff and patients alike. Yooni is never without a friendly smile and a positive attitude. It is not uncommon to find her singing while she works which brightens everyone's day and brings a smile to patients and staff.
Yooni is an exemplary nurse who cares deeply for each patient she meets. There are numerous instances where Yooni went above and beyond to provide excellent patient care. A recent example of her care for one of our patients represents her compassion and dedication. Due to complex discharge barriers, this patient has been on our unit for several months. This patient only has use of one of his arms and has difficulty with daily care. Yooni made sure that this patient was clean shaven and would assist him with shaving even on days that she was not his assigned nurse. Since he has been in the hospital for many months, Yooni made sure to cut his hair regularly. She would even come in onher days off to make sure that his hair was trimmed. These touches really helped this patient feel more comfortable and cared for while having to be in the difficult situation of an extended hospital stay.
Yooni is a valued member of our care team and the Franciscan family. We have been honored to work side by side with her over the years. We believe she deserves to be recognized for her achievements and ongoing dedication to the practice of nursing.
