I was flying from Syracuse to Fort Lauderdale with a connecting flight in Charlotte, NC. While in-flight, I was taken ill and lost consciousness for a short period of time. The flight crew made an announcement asking if a doctor or any medical passengers were on-board.
Yuri and another nurse volunteered to assist. Yuri came to my assistance, monitored my blood pressure, which dropped to 84 [systolic], and administered Oxygen until we reached Charlotte where we were met by EMTs who boarded the plane. Yuri stayed with me and comforted my wife and I until the EMTs took over.
Yuri was traveling with his wife and son on vacation. Yuri went above and beyond what anyone would expect while on his own time and traveling with his family.
I would hope he can be recognized by the hospital for his excellent care, interpersonal skills and devotion to his career as a nurse.
You should be very proud to have an employee of this caliber on the staff at St. Joseph's Health.
