During the most terrifying season of our lives, when machines were breathing for my uncle and every alarm made our hearts stop, Yustina became our light in the middle of the darkness.
Even when fully sedated and unable to respond, she treated him with tenderness that moved us. She spoke to him gently with warmth, as if he could hear every word. Her care was never rushed or mechanical; it was intentional, compassionate, and deeply personal. She constantly checked on my uncle, making sure he was comfortable and treated with dignity.
You could feel that she truly cared not just because it was her job, but because it is who she is. One of the most unforgettable moments was when she spoke words of faith, comfort, and hope. She prayed over my uncle. Her prayer shifted the atmosphere. Yustina does not just do her job; she lives it. She loves it. She embodies everything the DAISY award represents: clinical excellence, compassion, advocacy, and heart.
