Yvette has a special way with patients as soon as she walks in the room her patients immediately are put at ease and by the time she leaves, they are usually joking like lifelong friends. One patient had been with us for months, he and this nurse had a special bond. She was very attentive to his needs as she is with each patient, she takes care of. She brought in clothes for him to wear because he preferred a t-shirt and shorts to the hospital gown. He compiled quite a wardrobe from the staff on the floor and whenever he needed it, whether she was working on the floor or just here for a meeting, she would take the time to take his clothes down to the patient washer and dryer to clean them. This patient was confused due to his condition and he adopted Yvette as his Abuela. He loved her and lit up whenever she walked into the room. He always was telling me that "Abeula did this for me..." She establishes relationships of trust with her patients, they feel comfortable with her because they can tell she genuinely cares for them and treats them as if they were family.
