She asked if I was a hugger because she wanted to give me a hug.
My dad was in the ER because he was having trouble breathing. I never expected him to be back in the hospital as he was just sent to rehab the day before. He was in pain from his cracked ribs and upset because he couldn't breathe. Yvonne gently touched him and said “We are going to help you.” She was very patient trying to get responses from him. I had many questions about what was going on and she got me the answers as needed. When they were putting that horrible C-pap type of mask on him, she sympathized with him and talked to him calmly. You could tell that she really cared about my dad. When I was talking to her when they were ready to transfer my dad to ICU, I broke down and started to get teary. She asked if I was a hugger because she wanted to give me a hug. It really was exactly what I needed as the doctors were talking about a lot of different things that did not sound good. The hug was very comforting. She is a wonderful caring ER nurse and I am so pleased with my experience with her. Thank goodness for nurses like Yvonne!
