Zach Reiser, RN received four nominations for the DAISY Award during a 1 week period.
Nomination 1 - Patient: Upon being told that I needed a procedure done, I was scared of anesthesia and having tubes down my throat. I actually was contemplating leaving when Zach took the time to explain the pros and cons of my actions and reassured me that having the procedure was definitely the best option. Later at the time I was being taken down to the OR, he again reassured and convinced me that it was for the best and the right thing to do. Aside from that, the entire time I was here, he did an excellent job of making sure that I was comfortable and had everything that I needed. If there were more nurses like Zach in the world, people like myself who are not fond of doctors and hospitals in general would probably have better thoughts and views of medicine and would likely take better care of themselves.
Nomination 2 – Family Member: Zach is an amazing asset to Passavant. My husband was starting to panic over the idea of being put under anesthesia. Zach came in and sat with him to encourage him and calmed him immensely. He answered any and all questions. He was extremely caring and did whatever he could to keep my husband comfortable. He is by far one of the most exceptional nurses I have ever dealt with. He made our stay here less painful than it had to be. I can’t say enough good things about him. He is truly an asset!
Nomination 3 – Family Member: I was visiting my buddy and got to meet Zach. He was very personable and attentive to my friend. They have had nothing but good things to say. He took time to get to know all of us. My buddy wasn’t just a number.
Nomination 4 – Patient: Zach has an outstanding personality. He was very caring and went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied while I was a patient. He met all my needs without me asking. He was extremely compassionate to my emotional needs. At end of shift he made sure he checked on his patients. Zach was a very pleasant, caring and concerned nurse who definitely contributed to my healing process. He is someone I would want to be my nurse every day.
