With the birth of my second child, I was terrified that I would have another traumatic birthing experience (not at the fault of any health staff but due to unexpected birth complication). However, this time around, thanks to nurse Zac- he provided comfort and support during the most painful times that led to the birth of my son. He explained all the details, helped me to mentally break through temporary pain with my epidural and contractions with encouraging words and instructions, facilitated the birthing process, and gave instructions well to my husband and sister. Knowing he was there, my support system and I felt safe and well cared for.
