Zachary Dismer, RN, met UF Health Paramedic R in a room with a critical patient in atrial fibrillation with RVR who presented to the waiting room. While transferring the patient to the bed, the patient lost consciousness and pulses. Zach and R immediately began resuscitation, including compressions. Resuscitation was successful, with the patient regaining spontaneous circulation and consciousness. The patient was immediately diagnosed with underlying ischemia on a repeat EKG and sent to the cardiac catheterization lab. Emergency Medicine Attending Z wrote the following in an email to leadership: "To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my appreciation for Zachary Dismer, RN. His quick action and effort led to a successful intervention on a critically ill patient. The whole team in the ED responded and did an excellent job, but I can honestly say that his individual effort made a substantial difference in the patient's outcome. I commend him on a job very well done."
