This nurse is extraordinary all around. He is so caring and compassionate to every patient. The reason for the nomination is that I had a patient with dementia who was combative. With suspicion of a UTI, the doctor wanted a urine sample; a task that can be difficult on a normal day, but more so with this type of patient. Zach overheard me saying that I was concerned about how difficult this task would be. Without hesitation, he followed me to retrieve supplies. When I asked what he needed from me, he said I’m going to help you. I was so relieved. His willingness to jump in and help without even being asked and his bedside manner is exactly what I needed at that moment. During the procedure, Zach rubbed the patient's back and comforted him as if he was with his own grandpa. We were able to get the urine sample with no problem at all. Zach is an amazing nurse.
