When dealing with a lot of confusion with a palliative care patient and orders, the patient was in the ER overnight as an ER hold, awaiting a bed in the palliative care unit. The orders were not entered appropriately, and there was a lot of confusion trying to get orders corrected for the patient to receive the palliative care medications that the patient needed for relief at the end of life. Zachary Wix went above and beyond sorting these issues out with providers, doctors, nurses, and ward administration. Zachary truly cared for the veteran and was able to quickly assist and guide others to get the best possible outcome for the veteran.
