Zack Kruger, BSN, RN

My mother-in-law was a patient on the 7F unit from late Thursday night, through Monday. The team on this unit was very caring and helpful and should be recognized for their care in keeping the patient as comfortable as possible considering the pain from her injury. However, Zack was outstanding and he went above and beyond to make sure my mother-in-law had everything she needed and became her light during her stay at UPMC Mercy. Zack showed compassion and kept her spirit up even when she was in pain and frightened being alone in the hospital. He was especially wonderful on her discharge day, as he saw to it that she was kept updated on the transport's schedule, and delays, and helped ease her anxiety. He even called us, the family, to keep us updated as there was a huge delay in the transport ambulance getting there. Zack kept checking on her and helping her keep calm and not anxious about the delay. Our family would like to thank and acknowledge Zack, for his compassionate care and understanding. Zack is a truly special nurse!
