I worked with Zakenia this past Sunday when the family of Zakenia's patient decided to withdraw care and make the patient comfort care only. The family was too far away and were not able to be present by the patient's side as he passed, so Zakenia stayed by this patient's side, holding his hand, from the time the doctor extubated him until the time he passed away. This patient had Covid 19, but she stayed with him, dressed in full PPE, so that the patient would not pass away alone.
