Zara Anderson, RN
I am writing to formally commend and thank Zara Anderson, Staff Nurse and Clinical Educator at NNUH, for her exceptional actions while off duty at the weekend.
During a running race, Zara willingly sacrificed her own race and finishing time when she identified a young runner in medical distress. She immediately stepped in to support the on-site medical team, who were struggling to maintain and control the individual’s airway.
Drawing on her professional knowledge, clinical experience and unwavering duty of care, Zara quickly took control of the situation, providing vital life-saving intervention. Her calm leadership and clinical judgment ensured effective airway management and facilitated a clear, efficient handover to the ambulance service. Quite simply, without Zara’s decisive actions, this situation could have had a very different outcome.
Zara’s conduct exemplifies the very highest standards of nursing professionalism and compassion. Her willingness to act, even while off duty, reflects immense credit on herself, and on her new role as a clinical educator and NNUH as a whole. She is undoubtedly a tremendous asset to your Trust.
