My 8 week preemie has been in the NICU since the day he was born on June 30th. He was born with a condition called TEF. He was born in Modesto, Ca. but because his condition required surgery he was transported to Kaiser in Roseville. My whole world turned upside down. Knowing that my baby was 8 weeks early, needed surgery and was going to be far away from home was very overwhelming for me to handle. I have two other children at home which makes it even more challenging to deal with. Because of this it makes it hard for me to visit everyday as I would like to. Some days I need to bring his sibling with me to visit, and that gets challenging too. This is where Zeinab Sobh comes in-- when I first met her she was full of energy and radiated so much light. She communicated very well, was personable and had a super positive attitude. I immediately felt comfortable and it also changed my mood from feeling overwhelmed and stressed to positive and happy! I also loved the way she interacted with the other staff there. A staff member came in to change the garbage bags out and she instantly put a smile on his face too. In addition to her great attitude, she was excellent with my son that came with me to visit. She catered to his needs, which helped out tremendously so that I can spend time and hold my baby without having to worry too much about my other son. She brought him water and snacks. She put a show on Youtube for him on the computer screen and even walked him around the unit so that the doctor could give me an update with no distractions. For those reasons I want to nominate Zeinab. She exceeded all of my expectations as a NICU nurse. I honestly haven't experienced anyone like her since my baby has been in the NICU.
