I have worked at St. Mark's for 20 years as an orthopedic surgeon. I also often work at IHC facilities (IMC and LDS), where I also operate and/or have taken "ER call." Zee is a nurse who stands out from ALL the others.
Zee exhibits SKILLFUL care in all aspects of nursing, as seen in her attention to detail, skillful bedside manner, leadership, and action/task master. She helps other nurses navigate tough situations and steps in and goes above and beyond the typical 'call of duty.'
She is savvy about problematic labs and is a good trouble shooter. She gives comfort to physicians and surgeons alike in that she anticipates problems and gives good feedback and suggestions. Patients appreciate her keen common sense and her ability to communicate well in Layman's terms.
I have much appreciation for her ability to help calm and educate patients, and often their family members, as needed. I recall many instances of specific patients where I was so, so grateful that Zee was their nurse. It made my work and concerns much less arduous.
Zee epitomizes compassion and empathy. She reminds me of "the lady with the lamp" by Florence Nightingale. She exudes so many attributes of excellence in nursing care. I strongly recommend Zee for this prestigious honor.
