Zhao Mingyu always cares for his patients. He is very patient with every patient and never tired of providing teaching and explanation to them. He will do whatever he can to meet patients' reasonable needs. As one of his colleagues, I find he is always the last one to have lunch. At the beginning, I thought he was slow doing his job, but I was wrong about that. One day, I urged him to have lunch with us and he refused and said he would like to get some hot water for a female patient without family around to take medicine before his lunch. When there were a lot of patients coming during lunch time, Mingyu always stayed to help colleagues to handle the rush hours, by doing so, the patients' waiting time was shortened.
Mingyu is accountable for his patients. One day, he found one bottle of medicine was missing when checking the patient's medicine and the patient could not tell why. Mingyu checked with the Pharmacy and looked up the surveillance video and finally found out the other patient took the medicine by mistake. Both patients were grateful to Mingyu for his great sense of responsibility.
Mingyu also carries out the philosophy of caring in his daily work. I witness him providing professional end-of-life care for a patient with advanced pancreatic cancer. This particular patient with a hot temper didn't have any children. His sisters paid all his medical costs and other fees for him but never spent time with him. Mingyu was the one there for the patient all the time, comforting him, encouraging him and shaving for him.
Zhao Mingyu is such a good nurse and I am so proud to have him as one of my colleagues!
