She was so unselfish, putting others before herself, showing warmth and compassion towards her colleagues and to her patients even when under pressure to handle multiple calls, but she never forgot a promise and delivered on all her goals for her patients, including "A".
I would like to mention Nurse Joyce Nim for her outstanding behavior to my wife "A". "A" is an ALS patient who was admitted to the Morristown Medical Centre for attention to her feeding tube that was bleeding due to being incorrectly fitted by another location. During this period, "A" was unable to coordinate either hand movement, suffered restricted body and leg movements, and was unable to swallow or speak. Without being asked by ""A", through her facial gestures, Joyce promptly was able to offer support and comfort that lifted "A's" spirits causing her to smile frequently. Joyce seemed never too busy to (1) help settle "A" into more comfortable positions, (2) without asking fitted leg pressure pulsing device in the absence of her drugs Eliquis to prevent blood clots, (3) would tend her for toilet visits and (4) was always smiling and openly warm towards "A". Joyce made a routine, difficult visit plus crippling positions (simply lying in that bed day after day, "A" lost body movements) more acceptable and meaningful, giving "A" hope when all around her seemed gloomy with no positives. All the time, Joyce had other patients whom she did not disappoint and tended to them in a most efficient and professional manner. Her candor never changed from one emergency to another, whether with "A" or another patient; she never forgot her duty to all her patients but was always there to support "A". How she managed to remain calm, alive, warm, compassionate, and willing to extend her working day to support her patients is quite an accolade for her, and down to her loving and caring nature to help those less healthy than herself. She was so unselfish, putting others before herself, showing warmth and compassion towards her colleagues and to her patients even when under pressure to handle multiple calls, but she never forgot a promise and delivered on all her goals for her patients, including "A". It would have been so easy to forget "A" because she could not call out, could not press alarm buttons yet Joyce was always there on time, to support with compassion as if by telepathy. Her behavior was simply truly outstanding and quite the cream of the team, consisting of high-performing staff members, including many who were simply outstanding themselves, but Joyce Nim was the shining beacon of light that typified all that was/is good in that Medical Center. She was the jewel in the crown, and that is why I had to pick her out of the many highly qualified, talented, friendly, and compassionate nurses; she was the pick, the royal jewel in the crown of precious metals.
