I am honored to nominate Zoe Croyle for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Zoe has worked within the OBGYN department at North Arundel, and in my experience, she is one of the strongest and most compassionate nurses I have had the pleasure of working with. She is communicative, organized, focused, and consistently determined to provide the best care for our patients. Her expertise in the OBGYN field is unmatched, and her specialty knowledge directly contributes to exceptional patient outcomes. Zoe's dedication is evident in the fact that many patients specifically request her care, whether for educational guidance or procedural support.

Zoe's commitment to patient care is exemplified in her ability to stay late when needed, ensuring that patients receive uninterrupted, high-quality care. As a strong advocate for her patients, she consistently prioritizes their well-being and goes above and beyond to ensure their needs are met. Her proactive approach to handling the department's workload, seamlessly stepping in to assist wherever needed, further highlights her dedication.

A prime example of Zoe's clinical expertise and advocacy involved a postpartum patient with elevated blood pressure. Despite the patient initially not wanting to return to the hospital, Zoe took the initiative to repeat the blood pressure measurements multiple times during the visit. Her persistence paid off when the blood pressure readings revealed a severe result, leading Zoe to advocate for the patient to be seen. This resulted in a diagnosis of postpartum preeclampsia, and the patient was safely readmitted for treatment.

Zoe’s inbasket management skills are another strength. She efficiently handles communication, coordinates patient needs, and ensures timely follow-ups, which contributes to smooth departmental operations. Whether assisting with patient care or taking on additional tasks, her teamwork and collaborative spirit enhance the department's overall performance. On another occasion, Zoe worked with multiple nurses, providers, and departments to ensure a patient with low hemoglobin received a timely blood transfusion, demonstrating exceptional coordination and advocacy.

Zoe’s patient education is always thorough and effective. She is clear, concise, and ensures that patients receive all necessary resources to fully understand their condition or care plan. Over the past six months, she also completed the Preceptor Workshop, seeking continuous learning opportunities to enhance her skills. Her vigilance in adhering to patient safety protocols ensures that she minimizes risks and provides the highest quality care.

Zoe Croyle’s dedication, clinical expertise, and tireless work ethic make her an outstanding nurse. For these reasons, and many more, I believe she is a deserving candidate for the DAISY Award.

Thank you, Zoe, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
