Zoe brought the dog in to see the patient and then returned the dog back home.
Zoe has exhibited excellent clinical skills in the short time she has been a nurse. She routinely picks up on subtle changes and involves either the charge nurse or MD to advocate for her patients.

Zoe was taking care of a patient who was not going to survive his hospital stay. He didn't have many close family members, but really wanted to be able to see his dog. Zoe lives in Portland. On her next day off, she coordinated with one of the patient's neighbors to meet to pick up his dog and then drove the almost 2 hours to his hometown. Zoe brought the dog in to see the patient and then returned the dog back home. The patient was overcome with joy and happiness with this act of compassion and service. And then, Zoe worked a 12hr shift the next day!

Zoe has been recognized numerous times by family members, both during leader rounding and with handwritten notes about her compassionate care and loving personality. Zoe has a special way of connecting with patients and families during these end of life tender moments.

Zoe has been an instrumental member of our skin team. She has spent numerous hours researching and perfecting our skin care protocol and decision tree that will be used house wide. She has a continued commitment to excellence in that she is a resource to our staff on IMCU and house wide with skin care questions. She is always eager to help troubleshoot a skin issue that staff have concerns about. She is involved in each house wide PUP audit. Zoe continues to impress me with her many talents and engagement in many areas to improve the lives of our patients! She was meant to be a nurse!
