The patient's son shared they 1st met Zoe when she was placing a feeding tube in his nose. The son reflected on the kind gentle communication when explaining what she was going to do and why. She made a painful and uncomfortable procedure as gentle and caring as possible. The next day, she was called again to 5E for his father who was continuing to decline. The son shared he was frustrated with his dad’s continued decline. “She really heard me”. She took time to listen and acknowledge my concerns, in her same kind, gentle and professional manner. She was able to facilitate the patient’s transfer to ICU. One of our critical care NPs shared she is the reason the patient is alive and not in code blue event on our floor. He shared her expert clinical assessment skills and collaborative professional nature resulted in saving the life of this patient. She has been a constant in our time here and has been very kind, courteous and on top of everything. I can’t say enough about her.
