Zoe was nominated by the family of a patient in the ICU who was admitted after suffering a severe heat stroke. The family said that after several days, they were “left feeling hopeless,” but when Zoe began caring for the patient, she “treated our mom like family, explaining everything that was going on, detailing available options, and making sure we were all aware as well.”

The family said, “It was because of Zoe’s hard work, empathy, and excellent nursing skills that our mom is breathing on her own. Zoe knew just what to do and helped us talk to our mom again.” The family said they were grateful to have had Zoe care for their mother with kindness and persistence and that she “made our mom feel special like we mattered, and Mom was not just a name on a chart.” The family concluded their nomination by saying that Zoe is “a beautiful and gentle soul with a lot of determination and exceptional skill. She is amazing"!
