I am honored to nominate Zoila for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and humility she demonstrated during my loved one's hospital stay on 3 West. As an employee, I encouraged my loved one to seek a second opinion at Memorial. Although there were initial challenges in securing a bed, once my sister and her husband arrived at the unit, the care they received was nothing short of exceptional. The entire 3 W team went above and beyond, but Zoila's presence and dedication stood out in a profound way. Zoila had an incredible ability to meet our family exactly where we were. She provided hands-on comfort and stepped seamlessly into the role of a knowledgeable, compassionate nurse when explaining his plan of care. She never made us feel rushed and always took the time to ensure we understood what was happening, even during emotionally overwhelming moments.

What impacted us most was the way Zoila treated my loved one as if he were a member of her family. Her kindness, patience, and genuine presence brought comfort not only to the patient but to all of us who loved him. My sister was genuinely surprised to learn that Zoila was a new nurse. Her confidence, clinical knowledge, and thoughtful explanations reflected a level of professionalism well beyond her experience. Although our loved one ultimately lost his battle, our family is deeply grateful that he was in Zoila's care during his final days. She provided dignity, comfort, and compassion at a time when it mattered most. Zoila exemplifies what it truly means to be a daisy nurse, combining clinical excellence with heartfelt humanity.
