There are so many times that nurses come to work and give their All. Their dedication and fortitude day in day out is who they are and why the nursing profession is very blessed to call them their own. The exemplary effort is there every day and can be overlooked because their ongoing commitment, attitude and work expertise never waver.
Recently, after a very, very hectic shift of multiple RRTs and code Blues, I realized that the strength and calmness of one nurse, in particular, kept the split skeletal teams calm, focused, and diligently on task. Even though, multiple events were happening on different floors which ultimately affected her unit. While debriefing the fourth event and a call was paged for the fifth, a smile prevailed and spontaneously her words were; "...oh boy... let's take a deep breath now...". I would like to recognize her not just for that shift but for her compassionate positive nature every night.

Fortitude in the face of overwhelming workload is to always be consistently fair. Looks to all possibilities for the best patient outcome. Outstanding skill set demonstrated in the ability to help new and experienced RNs.
Flordeluz is resourceful in providing whatever is necessary for a positive outcome. She lovingly treats all patients and staff as if they're family. The energy that abounds throughout a 12-hour shift and is contagious to others. Open minded to others opinions and suggestions without judgment. Nurturing in teaching new nurses not what to think but how to think on their own. Involved in undesirable and desirable tasks equally. Dependable that not only everything will get done, but done exceptionally. Admirable for always being positive and even tempered throughout situations.
