Mary was the nurse taking care of my husband's Grandfather during one of his final days here on Earth on the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had 14 children and almost 70 grand andgreat-grandchildren, many of whom were present during his stay at St. Joseph's Hospital after he suffered a stroke. Mary showed exemplary nursing care deserving of the DAISY award while taking care of Grandpa. With this very large family, this was their first major loss. Our Grandpa and his wife would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary soon, which happened to be the day of his funeral.
Mary's kindness and compassion were demonstrated clearly as she volunteered to stay well after her shift was finished to assist in completing memorial hand prints with all the over 50 present family members. On this day, Mary was clearly listening with her heart and strengthened the sense of family for us. She gave us emotional support by giving the long lasting, cherished handprints with Grandpa.
Although I was not present this day, Mary's genuine act of kindness is so much appreciated by our entire family. ThankyouMary!
