Jessica Daley was nominated by a family member of a patient with a mental disability who was recovering from a major surgery. She notes Daley's "very personal connection" with the patient, saying Daley talked to her calmly, was always patient, always had a smile, and came up with effective distractions during scary or uncomfortable procedures. Whether encouraging the patient to shake a plastic bottle of coins during an IV line insertion, or snapping her badge simply to make the patient laugh, Daley went out of her way to make the patient comfortable. "Jessica made the care look easy, but I appreciate what I consider to be an extraordinary effort," says the family member.
