Evelyn is the assistant manager of the MICU, who has not only shown to be an outstanding professional, colleague, and educator, but most appropriate, an outstanding leader to our staff. She is dedicated to the needs of the staff and patients to secure the best outcomes. This means that she readily comes in on off tours or weekends to help assist with reaching the best outcomes for the staff and patients. Both herself along with our unit manager, on numerous occasions, have come in on off tours to express their appreciation for the work that we do for the unit, which speaks volumes to our staff.
There are daily accounts of the hard work and support that is seen by the staff as well as other health care members from Evelyn. It is not uncommon for her to take on a patient assignment if needed. She responds to Code Blue and rapid responses when staff may be unable to respond to them due to patient load. She understands the collaborative nature of our jobs and helps to promote such. She is a constant advocate for our staff and patients. Speaking even more to her leadership role she serves as an extraordinary role model to our staff.
