I recently ran into complications during a chemotherapy treatment when my mediport developed a hole and chemo leaked outside of my vessels. Christy immediately requested a dye study to determine the problem. The next day, while receiving the antidote for the chemo leak, I became nauseous and light headed. Christy immediately stopped the treatment and researched the side effects. She contacted the doctor right away. On the third day, the port site was very swollen, sore, and red. Christy met me at the hospital Emergency Department with documentation and photos she had taken of the port site over the 3 day period. This was Saturday, her scheduled day off. She stayed at the hospital with me for several hours while I was processed through the ED and admitted. She explained her notes and photos to the ED providers. Christy also stopped by my room before and after her shift on Monday just to check on me. She made me feel like she was genuinely concerned for me during this ordeal.
