Traci is truly the definition of a compassionate nurse. There are many stories where we can prove this is a true statement, but let us just tell you about one. She has worked nights for many, many, many years. This one night she took care of a cerebral palsy patient. The patient came in by ambulance with g-tube problems at 3 in the morning. The patient had food all over her face, wax all over her ears, and just needed a little TLC. Traci was her nurse and all we kept hearing from the room was laughter. The patient and the nurse were making Chewbacca noises to each other as Traci was cleaning the patient up. Many nurses in the ED would not take the time to connect with the patient while cleaning the patient up, but Traci takes the time to connect with all of her patients individually on a day to day basis. She is truly a role model that every nurse should look up to. Traci knows this community well and knows our "regular" patients who come in that are truly in need of food, warmth, and hygiene. Traci makes sure those patients are clean, well fed, and have a safe place to go before discharging the patients from the ER.
