My pre-surgical tests indicated an irregularity on my EKG. Teresa called me with the results and indicated that I would have to have another consultation before I could be approved for surgery. Since I had never had any significant cardiac issues, I was "freaked out" when she delivered this news. She immediately sensed my anxiety and took extra time to calmly explain why I should not panic or be overly concerned. She talked me through the next steps in the evaluation process and stayed on the phone with me until she was certain that I was reassured.
When I came in for the consultation, Teresa arranged for the physician to see me and worked to get me a same day appointment with Dr. T for further cardiac evaluation. Since I live in Richmond, IN she didn't want me to have to drive back and forth again on another day. My hip hurt that day and she summoned transport to get me to the car.
After finally clearing all the pre-surgical tests I arrived for surgery. Teresa was there to greet me and do my surgical prep. She worked with the anesthesiologist to be sure my concerns about post-surgical nausea were addressed. She saw me off to surgery and kept my husband posted on my progress while I was in surgery.
Teresa's kindness, empathy, professionalism, and nursing skills are exemplary! She was a great comfort to me and my husband during an extremely stressful time.
I'm now 6 months out of surgery and feeling great. I can look back with tremendous appreciation for a nurse like Teresa who gave me great confidence in Henry Community Health and the care I would receive.
