I live hours away from Santa Rosa and when I found myself admitted (indefinitely) to labor and delivery, I was confronted with a host of hurdles.
1) My husband, who is self-employed and my 4-year-old daughter were still on the coast with no plan for her daily care.
2) We have no family or friends in Santa Rosa.
3) I was admitted with a minimally packed bag of clothes...just to name a few.
I was undergoing tests every couple of hours, I was alone at this hospital for weeks, and I was quite overwhelmed/scared about the outcome of my pregnancy. Shannon cared for me a number of days and she was so dear and so empathetic to my situation. We had some great chats and laughs during my never-ending NST tests. She really helped keep my spirits up during such a stressful/lonely time. To encounter such a warm, friendly, compassionate ally during such a difficult time was a tremendous comfort. And, as if her sweet spirit wasn't enough to rave about, that dear woman took my few items of dirty laundry home and washed my clothes for me! Are you kidding me? That was so above and beyond any assistance or care that I expected during my time in labor and delivery. Shannon is a wonderful example of all the reasons my time at memorial was such a positive experience. I can't rave enough about how grateful I am!
