Carlos was my husband's first nurse straight out of heart surgery. After I was allowed in the room, I had a lot of questions. Carlos was simply amazing!!! He was very kind and patient with me as I asked all kinds of questions. He answered them with kindness and never made me feel as if I was asking too many questions or dumb questions. As Carlos continued to care for D, he was kind, compassionate, understanding, caring, and even funny. Carlos was so very attentive to D and hardly ever left his side. He explained every medication that was being given, explained every procedure and test that was administered and always answered our questions with kindness.
One thing Carlos did that I loved (and there were a lot) was that as D was waking up out of anesthesia, Carlos kept talking to him. He called my husband "Mr. L", which was very respectful. Carlos also identified who he was and told D where he was and that he was just waking up after surgery. I thought this was a great idea to help ease confusion right after surgery. I could go on and on about this Carlos, he's an exceptional nurse with an extraordinary bedside manner. Thank you, Carlos, for taking care of D so well.
