Susan Shibley is a registered nurse with nearly 5 decades in her career. She started as an emergency department nurse and moved into the breaking career of flight nursing. She started Tulsa Life Flight, which was the 9th hospital-based helicopter ambulance in the United States in 1979. Her work with Air Medical Services included local but was recognized nationally with membership on national professional organizations Board of Directors and accreditation of services. In 1994, she moved into an administrative role with Jane Phillips and worked with a variety of departments, including 9 home health agencies owned by Hillcrest Medical Center. Her final role professionally and reported by her was her favorite, Nursing Administration at Jane Phillips Medical Center. As a nursing school diploma nurse, she continued her education while working full-time to complete her master's degree in business administration. She continues her love of nursing since her retirement but in a very different role- serving as a volunteer with her rescued Doberman Pincher, Nala as a pet therapy visitor. They visit many healthcare facilities including acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Their favorite therapy visits are elementary schools. Nala's reward there is having a book read to her in a classroom.
