Lisa Setchell is a role model for all staff. She handles herself professionally and never loses it even though there are days when staffing is short, or if a patient is on the call light every 5 minutes or when she has to be Charge Nurse, AC or Break Relief at the same time. She communicates very well whether it's with staff, doctor, family, patient or with management, without getting defensive or confrontational. She is fair and will defend her nurses always in a positive way and will help in any way she can, whether it's taking a patient to the bathroom, or admitting a patient when she senses the nurse is overwhelmed. She is someone well respected and trusted by staff and doctors and other departments. She wears many hats: Charge Nurse, AC, CNA, RN, Break Relief, Referee and Peacemaker. She believes in TEAMWORK, and because of this belief and her positive attitude, we all work great together. She makes everyone want to work hard and do the best job with whatever the day brings. She remains calm no matter what situations come up. Everyone knows you can rely on her as she is very approachable.
Because of her, I enjoy my job and like coming to work even though I am old enough to retire. Working with her makes me enjoy my job because all her positivity rubs off on everyone that I work with. She brings out the good in everyone, and all the relief charge nurses follow her by example which makes my job easier.
