Brandon was in a charge nurse meeting when the house supervisor mentioned that ICU nurses were having trouble reaching the chaplain for a patient who was passing. The family's only request, as they were not able to be there, was that the patient was prayed over before passing away. Brandon offered his time and experience to come to the ICU to pray over the patient. In a tough situation where it feels like nothing was going our way, Brandon stepped in and volunteered to make sure we were able to provide him with the passing his family hoped for.
While losing a patient impacts all of us in a different way, we can all take comfort that our patient had a passing that he deserved to have, surrounded by prayers and love of those who cared for him even if we did not know him long.
