Rebecca serves as charge RN in our very busy unit. This is a really tough role, with a phone that never stops ringing and two different areas to manage simultaneously. Rebecca juggles things so well you often wouldn't know how chaotic the day really is by watching her. She floats around the unit helping all staff settle their patients, is supportive when staff have questions or concerns and is quick to jump in to assist or modify an assignment that turns out to be more than the RN can handle. She follows up with the manager or educator when questions arise and helps to spread education out to the department staff. She is an amazing nurse, with a wealth of knowledge, and I know I can always count on her calm, supportive presence when I have an unstable patient to care for.
I have long admired Rebecca's competence and work ethic, but my reason for nominating her was driven home during an especially busy day. Rebecca went out of her way to try to make the day a little bit better for us in any way she could. Rebecca always gives 110% every day, and to me, she embodies what the DAISY Award is all about.
