A patient's daughter was touched by the genuine compassion and respect shown by Nicole and Mutia. Her mother was admitted to the CVICU after complications in pre-op prior to a hip replacement. As a retired RN, the patient's daughter knew most of what was going on but stated Nicole took the time to answer any questions and explain anything she didn't understand. Mutia took care of her mother that evening and into the next morning. Her condition deteriorated through the night and she passed the next morning. Mutia suggested that the daughter call her family members around 5:30 am that morning and cried with the daughter and hugged her before the end of her shift. Nicole returned in the morning and was so kind and compassionate to her father and other family members as they said goodbye to their mom. She noted that after the patient's mother passed, no one rushed them out of the room, and they were so thankful that they could be with her for her final hours on this earth. Each of these nurses played a vital role in comforting a family during a difficult time of loss.
