When I was admitted to have my baby, we were sent to the Women's Care Unit and had the most amazing nurses the entire stay. However, Tanna went even more above and beyond for us. Our little girl lost 11% of her birth weight and we ended up having to stay an extra day because of this. I was an emotional train wreck. I wanted breastfeeding to work so badly. I was scared, confused and overwhelmed. Tanna went out of her way to stay and talk to me about breastfeeding my baby - what I was doing well, what I could do to improve, etc. She was encouraging and shared her personal story of struggling to feed her own little girl. She was exactly what I needed at the time, and now that our daughter is five months old, my husband and I still marvel at how much we appreciated Tanna's kind words and willingness to stay with us for 45 minutes answering our questions. As a pharmacist at MCR, I know that a nurse's time is precious, and they are often stretched thin as it is, so her dedication to us truly spoke volumes about the kind of nurse she is. I am very thankful to have the DAISY Award as a way to say THANK YOU!
