Tracie is recognized for outstanding and greatly appreciated guidance and leadership that she provides on a daily basis for her co-workers, but more importantly for our patients. On numerous occasions, Tracie has intercepted potential issues and problems that have directly affected the outcome with our patient care. One of the many situations that come to mind was with a patient:
Mr. C. that was here at Select. Tracie spends the extra time and care to review the charts, files, history, and past and current lab values on each patient around her many responsibilities as a charge nurse. On this particular occasion, Tracie was able to discover issues with labs that corresponded to symptoms and issues this patient was experiencing, and she single-handedly identified an issue that she was able to quickly reiterate to the attending physicians for this patient.
This, in turn, lead the team to discover that this patient needed immediate surgery to correct what would have been possibly a fatal outcome for our patient. After such interception, this patient was able to recover and eventually be discharged in a healthy status; a status that was truly doubted prior to Tracie's discovery. As mentioned, this is just one of the numerous occasions that Tracie has been responsible for helping and yes, saving a life. I am honored to say that I am a coworker of Tracie and am able to learn from her.
Lastly, I also would like to state that Tracie is the type of nurse and Charge that reminds me of why I chose to become a nurse myself, and that is because of the care and protection of a life to the very best of our ability; that is why we are here.
