I am a 63-year-old male who was hospitalized for a knee replacement. Karen did an outstanding job of setting me at ease when I felt uncomfortable, no matter what was going on. Because of nerve blocks in place, it took a very long time for feeling to be restored to my body from the waist down. She kept coming in with a huge smile on her face, reassuring me that all was well.
When an uncomfortable procedure was needed, her confidence while doing that procedure set me at ease and helped me have a more relaxed approach that "this is no big deal, it can happen to anyone" type of feeling. She stepped in and helped a young nurse complete the procedure when the young nurse struggled when trying to do it and gently explained how it needed to be done.
I never felt uncomfortable, no matter what I asked, she explained until I understood what we needed to do and why. Even when I didn't call for her, she popped in just to see if I needed anything. She was incredibly kind to my wife and looked after her needs as well. When a procedure I needed made her close to the end of her shift she had a "no big deal" attitude. Thank you, Karen.
