I have worked with Ashley for the past four years and have witnessed countless interactions that make her a DAISY Nurse.
Ashley is what I consider "the goal". She is intelligent, resourceful and quick to intervene in an emergency. Her years of experience make her one of the most clinically strong RNs on our unit. But, what makes Ashley so unique is the way she is with her patients. She seems to always get placed in assignments with difficult dynamics because no one has ever been easier to love than Ashley. She is just the most genuine positive gem of a human being. I've learned more about what it is to be a nurse from her example than anyone else. She doesn't involve herself in gossip or let anything get her down. Her patients, though often too overwhelmed and sick to nominate her, always say how much of a difference that light and positivity make.
Just today I watched her interact with her patient who was in so much pain from metastatic cancer and EVD that she could barely keep her eyes open. But, there was Ashley bringing out her silly side. It was great to see that patient, who hasn't wanted to do anything but numb the pain with meds, up in the chair, eating, conversing and smiling. That is what prompted me to fill out this form today. Ashley is a DAISY Nurse and a joy to all who meet her.
