Pat is a very special nurse because she truly connects with her patients. She works with adolescent girls who can be very somatic and moody at times. They all seem to gravitate to Pat and she is able to "get through" to her patients. They are shown "tough love" at times and they still love her. When patients return, they are usually happy to see her and they want to be placed back on her unit.
There isn't one day that I have ever witnessed Pat with a negative attitude. She always finds a solution to a problem. She is flexible. She can get staff to sign up for extra shifts when others cannot. She is a great charge nurse who is fair and makes great decisions. She invests her time with our patients by creating interesting and fun groups.
She donates her time to our residential patients and provides snacks for the kids who have achieved high levels for the week. She is an inspiration to me - she motivates me to be the best nurse I can be and to not be afraid to give all that I can to our patients. I'm so proud to have her on OUR Team!
When I am lost and can't find a solution, I can ask her and we will figure it out. She is always helpful. We have a gem at Crittenton, her name is Pat Hankins!
