Shelby was nominated by a patient's daughter for the compassionate care Shelby gave to her mother during her last days on Earth. The family was told their mother only had hours to live and they were blessed to have four extra days with her, while Shelby cared for her. The daughter said that Shelby did a fantastic job keeping their mother comfortable and the family is entirely grateful for all of Shelby's hard work. Shelby was able to explain each procedure in a way the family could understand. "She was our angel in this difficult journey we were on," the daughter said.
Shelby's clinical managers say they have had the privilege to watch her grow. She brings a unique approach to everything she faces and never backs away from a challenge. Her compassion and love for not only her patients but her coworkers as well shine through everything she does. She is a support and comfort for everyone she knows. It is a pleasure and an honor to have her on the team! Shelby's director says she would be honored to have Shelby care for herself or any of her family members. She is grateful for Shelby's outlook on life and she looks forward to all the many things Shelby will accomplish for patient care in the Critical Care Unit.
Because of Shelby's compassionate and caring efforts, her patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
