I am 78 years old and have had many surgeries plus 6 children. I was scheduled to have a heart cath, which I have put off for over a year. When I went to see the doctor I decided to have it done. When I thought about it I got physically ill. I am a Christian so if something happened I would either go home or Home. When I arrived that morning a very nice nurse came for me and she was a blessing. She sensed I was afraid and took me by the hand and talked to me, explained everything as things were done. She said she would be with me from the beginning until it was over and she took care of me. At my age I was not too happy to have a young man shave me, so she took over. Whenever she sensed I was getting upset she would ask me about family or different things to take my mind off the procedure. When I was being taken to the heart cath room all those machines were really kind of scary. She told me that the nurses would be calling out numbers, but if it was for me they would say my name. She told me everything they were doing. When it was over I couldn't believe it. I was cold as the room is cold so they got me warm blankets. I am so very thankful for the nurse, Kayla Ryan.
