My wife was brought into the ER where the wonderful staff directed their full attention to stabilizing her before she was moved into the ICU. I wish I could have had their names to thank them for the wonderful care they gave my wife. In the hallway leading to the ICU, there is a sign stating, "There are Angels Among Us", yes there are. I met one of those angels that morning, a nurse named Kathie who works in the ICU. Kathie would take the time to help ease my fear and concerns with what was going on with my wife. She explained what all the IVs and other tubes were for, what tests were being conducted and what type of results they were looking for. Kathie had a cheerful smile, comforting words, and a caring attitude about how my wife was doing. Throughout the day, she would appear out of nowhere not only to check on my wife's status but was caring enough to see how I was holding up as well. Her compassion for not only my wife but her other patients was nothing short of amazing. Thanks to this angel named Kathie as well as the unknown other angels of the ER and ICU staff at South Shore my wife is well on her way to recovery and back to a normal life.
