Julianna was amazing during my mother's hospitalization. During a very difficult time for my mother and our family, Julianna was patient, understanding, comforting, had wonderful communication, and always willing to offer her helping hand and anticipated anything we needed without even asking. We had to make a very difficult decision in choosing to put my mother on hospice care. Julianna stayed past the end of her shift to stay with our family overnight. She had worked three twelve-hour shifts and still offered to stay with the family knowing how much we appreciated her and were comfortable with her caring for my mother. We cannot say enough good things about Julianna. Thank you, Julianna, you are truly amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My grandmother recently had open-heart surgery and spent close to three weeks in the CVRU. Ultimately, she was unable to recover from the surgery and passed away. During her stay in the unit, we met several nurses who were assigned to take care of my grandmother. Julianna was, by far, the most exceptional nurse on the floor. We were at the hospital every day for visits and my family and I would be so thrilled when Julianna was assigned to my grandma. Her bedside manner was impeccable, she was always happy to answer any questions we had about my grandmother's health, and she was extremely knowledgeable about the care she provided. She took care of my grandmother as if she was her own. I'm currently in nursing school and when I graduate, I aspire to be the nurse that Julianna is. When we found out my grandma was going to die, and we began end of life care we asked if Julianna could stay with us. She had already worked a 7-7 shift and, with permission, stayed with us until 11:30. When my grandmother passed she was there to support every one of us in the room. She cried with us, she laughed with us. I cannot thank her enough for being such a great nurse. She showed us what nursing is all about. We will never forget Julianna.

My grandmother recently passed while in the CVRU. During this unexpected and emotional time, Julianna was the shining light in our darkness. Julianna allowed my family to question and understand all the needed procedures. Her knowledge and skill as a nurse were only exceeded by her genuine caring for our grandmother and family. Following the request from our family, Julianna arranged to work extra time to be present and lend her support. My family cannot say enough about how Julianna helped to ease our sorrow.

Recently, NCH lost a valued nurse. A nurse for over thirty years, she was a true friend to those who knew her, and everyone would say she was a "nurses' nurse." She spent time with us in the critical care unit, as the team supported her and her family during this time. Now this long-time friend and NCH nurse was discussing her transition to comfort care. Her nurse on this day was Julianna Farhoud, RN. Julianna poured her heart and soul into her care, as she always does. Julianna had connected with the patient's sister, who was also a nurse. Julianna, recognizing how important of a day this was in not only the patient's life, but her family's lives as well, stayed after her shift to support her. Julianna not only ensured the patient was comfortable, but that the family had the support they needed during this time; a crying shoulder, a listening ear. After the patient passed away, Julianna went home. I attended the funeral since she was our long-time employee and I saw her sister....and the first thing she told me was "Julianna is the kind of nurse my sister was, and she would be so proud of Julianna staying with her." At this family's saddest time, they remembered the nurse who cared for them, more than anything else. Juliana has extraordinary compassion for her patients and their families. She made a world of difference in this family's experience during a tragic time.
