Alicia Timmerman is a great person and a great nurse who always has a smile on her face, which helped make my stay at Rusk Rehab a lot better. I had been in the hospital for 2 months where I was on an ECMO machine to keep me alive. I was on the machine for a total of 43 days. I was then transferred to Rusk Rehabilitation Center after 58 days.
The second night I was here I had my first panic attack in my life. I felt like I couldn't breathe, I pushed the call light and within 2 minutes is when Alicia went above her duties as a nurse. She sat by me holding my hand and talking to me in a gentle voice for about 45 minutes until I got through the panic attack. I feel she is deserving of this award not just for her great nursing skills but also for being a great person. She makes your stay feel like you're more at home. I have had to stay in other hospitals and Alicia is the best nurse I have ever had.
