Jamie was one of several wonderful nurses that took care of my 99-year-old mother, as the result of a fall which eventually ended in her death this past March at St. Michael's.
Jamie did many things that were above and beyond her responsibilities as a nurse. Jamie was a compassionate and caring nurse and an advocate for my mother as a patient. One night, she ordered pizza for our family as the cafeteria was closed. She also facilitated a handprint of my mom the night before she passed. A specific example of her caring was when she sat down with us one night, and asked us to tell her about our favorite memories of my mom. The genuine, sincere interest in her life and hearing our stories showed such caring and provided us with much needed emotional support.
She also kept us well informed of my mom's condition and was always concerned with her level of pain and comfort. She was very responsive to every call light and sent us a courtesy cart with snacks and beverages for our family. We felt so confident in her skills as a nurse.
But most of all, the respect and attention she provided to my mom were exemplary, not to mention the professionalism and understanding of what we were going through as a family. She is definitely an asset to St. Michael's Hospital and anyone would be lucky to have her as their nurse.
